Understanding about "DEATH OF THE CONSUMERS

One of the best topics that we had in our past discussion is Marketing Convergence. And we taught lots of new stuffs which best suit in the profession of being a good technopreneur as those who run businesses. There are many ways of how Marketing convergence is occurring nowadays. Indeed, “Death of the Consumer” is the main consequence or outcome of the convergence. It may sound negatively when we hear the word “death”. Right? But as far as I know that this death is a new avenue to arise something better than before. This “death of consumer” talks about the number of consumer that is being done. However, good thing newest consumer is now what we call “PROSUMER”. Yes! You heard it right. This term still refers to the person whom to buy and avail products and services. And there is a big difference of being a consumer before and a prosumer of today. Great wall between the two really matters. The advantages of being prosumer have a twist on the difference compare to the consumer. When I got first heard about the prosumer, I am eager to know more and get the pin point definition of it. Indeed, I spent my time browsed and searched some articles to justify and provide my needs. To give differentiate, lets define first the consumer. From the online encyclopedia which is Wikipedia, “Consumer is a broad label for any individuals or households that use goods and services generated within the economy. The concept of a consumer occurs in different contexts, so that the usage and significance of the term may vary. Typically when business people and economists talk of consumers they are talking about person as consumer, an aggregated commodity item with little individuality other than that expressed in the buy/not-buy decision. However there is a trend in marketing to individualize the concept. Instead of generating broad demographic profiles and psycho-graphic profiles of market segments, marketers have started to engage in personalized marketing, permission marketing, and mass customization.” From that given definition, the consumer which those person decide buy or not to buy on the available products and services. A consumer is free to make decision on availing products and services. Just like a normal consumer, in order to make a right selection, we are able to ask from the seller how good their products may provide. When I remembered the lines once I have read somewhere, it says that “there are two kinds of foolish a consumer might have, it is to ask many times and not to buy or ask once then decide to buy”. So how is this line made foolish to the consumer, it is when clients are going ask questions in many times they are just wasting their time in inquiring then as a result if it not made them attractive they just say “Sige, mubalik rako unya” (I will return later on). Then it would be the sign of not fully satisfying in the marketing of products. Another thing is when consumers asks only for once and immediately purchase and pay for the products. This is very usual to those illiterate people who got too deceived by the seller quickly choose to obtain their selection. Now we also need to define and identify the prosumer. Still from the free online encyclopedia, defined the “Prosumer is a portmanteau formed by contracting either the word professional or producer with the word consumer. The term has taken on multiple conflicting meanings: the business sector sees the prosumer (professional–consumer) as a market segment, whereas economists see the prosumer (producer–consumer) as having greater independence from the mainstream economy. It can also be thought of as converse to the consumer with a passive role, denoting an active role as the individual gets more involved in the process. More recently, in the mental health field, the word "'prosumer'" has come to mean "consumer/provider," also known as a "peer provider," such as a peer support specialist or other mental health consumer who also provides peer support mental health services (background on peer-run mental health services). The word "Prosumerise" has been coined by Widality to represent the merging of the IT and mobility requirements of the prosumer, consumer, and enterprise.” From that meaning, prosumer is still a consumer. However prosumer used the consumer-grade products. This grade means the standard of the product. If it has a high quality then it will also have highest percentage of consumer-grade and vice versa. Another thing, they are consumer targeted products, at consumer prices, but containing some professional-grade functionality. And lastly a prosumer is progressive or developing gradually over the time. They have their own choice. Prosumer doesn’t depend on the available products and services offer but they have a great involvement to denote active roles on the process.

Moving onward is the most crucial indicator of the feasible and practical of the economy will be on consumer spending. When you have to run business, you have to make sure that you have sufficient and well of number of consumer. If there are not enough consumers, there will be no recovery due any doubt to the negative characteristics of consumer data. The death of the consumer is receiving scant coverage. For the advantages of being a prosumer, they can immediately access to the new technology. Thus, this technology meets their specific requirements. For the company, it is important to strengthened relationship with the customer. They must have to demonstrate a willingness to keep their customers satisfied. And lastly, the company now has a new feature, product, service they can market to the customer. We as a customer are conscious on fast inquiring for the orders. Through the wide range of internet, we can simply request and find out the products that we are going to purchase. Aside from that it would be better to communicate through internet to less the time consuming and burden to travel a distance in order to buy products.

What makes a prosumer and consumer differ? A certain site stated that, a Prosumer is researching a products value, performance, and price through social networks (twitter, tumblr, facebook) and consumer product reviews (such as Amazon.com), and prices comparison shopping engines such as Nextag.com and Thefind.com, before making a final decision or purchase. In that way it is clearly defined that a prosumer has a great involvement in choosing what the best is for the amount they are going to pay. In fact, within these web sites a Prosumer researches all aspects of a products performance, price and social acceptance in relative comparison to similar products within the same category. The Prosumer is searching for the highest quality product that best meets their personal needs for the maximum amount of money they are willing to spend. Based on that search criteria, the Prosumer is also willing to venture into new shopping distribution channels in order to purchase that product. As a matter of fact, a prosumer has a capability to take risk in order that he/she can undertake business venture that would lead to profit. Who founded the prosumer? The Prosumer terminology was identified by the Earl Jean Brand, where the company recognized a new consumer niche of premium denim consumers who because of the economic downturn desired a high quality, status image, socially acceptable and high performing jeans wear products at value prices.

Examples.
1. A very good example is a prosumer niche of a particular brand of jeans. That prosumer make customizing in his own style of a high quality of jeans. Not just that, a prosumer should be check the performance, price and the accurate value of an item which he/she is going to spend.

2. Another sample is when a prosumer is going to search and browse a certain online buying of foods such as McDonalds, a prosumer will just drag the menu or click the option of the combination of burger, how many patties and soon. The two above mentioned scenario are few for those happenings where “Death of a Consumer” occurred.

3. To give another sample is when a technological development that opens new opportunities, nor is it a new form of connectivity. What has developed is a specific style of how to interact with customers and with data, a style significantly different from the early stages of the Internet as mass media. Thus, current websites such as eBay and Amazon are primary examples of how to create added value through transparency and participation. In this way, these companies represent the “new” Web. When I have found the new objective of eBay, I was felt well on that. eBay has its new good format, eBay does not sell directly. In fact, it insists on being called a “venue”. A venue where eBay will going to offer to customers a place where they can become sellers and/or buyers. In eBay’s world, both seller and buyer are eBay’s customers. That’s an excellent idea to motivate ones life. There would be performance evaluations on the both side of buyer and seller. The seller pays for the privilege of selling (via a complex system of final-value fees levied against the total cost of the transaction), and only the buyer can leave negative feedback (a recent update to the feedback mechanism that resulted in a near rebellion of small- and medium-volume sellers). Indeed, eBay via Paypal offers a safety net of transactions, most transactions are self-regulating, and in short it could be adjustable. At the end of a transaction, both sides — seller and buyer — leave public feedback on a variety of the transaction’s aspects. For safety precaution, the customer will always remain anonymous or unknown to prevent illegal activity. Thus, in a manner of speaking, eBay’s customers take on the role of employees. And there is more: eBay offers its customers a whole range of venues for expression, ranging from discussion boards about coins or purses to help with transactions gone bad. What is interesting in these forums is that very few actual eBay employees participate; the content and answer providers are fellow eBayers. The eBay is just a new avenue to arise something good for the common good of both buyer and seller. Strategic plan, patience on taking risk and spending time is the capital on this matter. Like eBay, Amazon.com successfully deploys this strategy while defending its dominant market position. At Amazon, customers review and evaluate books, films, gadgets, clothes, food items, beauty products — anything that’s for sale on Amazon.

I had also read from a noble article in the internet. The article is in titled “Consumer or Prosumer” which is written last August 10, 2010 by Tim Moore. This is a very good article for those who got confused between the two matters. It specified here the buyer as a consumer “One that consumes, one that acquires goods or services for direct use of ownership” or “A heterotrophic organism that ingests other organisms or organic matter in a food chain”. By that definition, it’s all about the sale, which cares about the person. It is really selfish, demeaning view of our valued customers. Definitely, it is an old version of being a client. On the other hand, Prosumer is “One who is converse to the consumer, denoting an active role as the individual gets more involved in the process.” So what’s the best side of being a prosumer? It is they are interested in others first, sharing, giving, earning their trust. This means that consumer needs to express their feelings or opinions. This is also important, seller must have to consider the suggestion of the consumer, in order to modify and alter things for better. They are not just mindless “organisms” who just “consumes” matter. Tim Moore gave his point of view. It is that customers are critical. Just like what changing of today. We are living in a modern world. Right? Indeed, people are changing, their taste, likes and most especially their choices. We can get poor or rich service anywhere. This will also means that life is stressful; anxiety is growing as our neighbors in lives. Truthfully, procrastination or the putting off is up to 40%, rage and rudeness are increasing across the board amongst ‘service’ providers. One of the best standards mentioned in this article is the Apple Store (in fact, Tim Moore loves this store). How I wish to visit and buy gadgets in this magnificent store. This store is a perfect example of everyone in the company, top to bottom, viewing everyone that walks in the door as a Prosumer. It is stated on the article that they appreciate the services render by the Apple Company. They are going to help you, not to pressure. Not just like the other store we usually visit who will immediately get closer to you and ask if what you want. One of the preeminent factors of Apple Store is that their products are everything works and is never locked, feel free to use as you wish. See the beauty of Apple. They have the full trust to the prosumer not to snatch and steal on their high tech gadgets. In case you have something broken, Apple will provide the fix for free. And if you need a genius, go the genius bar and get excellent service from people who want to help you and get it right the first time. They will help you to choose and get some advices. Tim Moore shared that as a prosumer, he feels great and comfortable and surely he love to be back. That’s was really amazing and very attractive on the eye of the prosumer. So if we are going to ask on how should be able to be one of them. Well Tim Moore commends you for your honesty. More business leaders needs more humility when it comes to examining their business model and accepting that changing to a social media system is going to be disruptive to the current one in place, but it is critical. Yes this is true! Most of the seller use to fool their clients in terms of giving critics about their selling product and services. They will just stress the good side and never mention on the possible instances that a product might be imparted. Just to bear and gain profit from their dirty-old strategic plan of marketing. As those of us who run businesses, they find themselves in the most anxiety filled time in modern history; along with that, there are a couple of obstacles they have to acknowledge first before proceeding. Or shall we say, there are capitalist who don’t have an adequate knowledge on handling business but they just have the sufficient strong vibes on taking risk. Today’s climate is hard on business leaders, with uncertainty at every turn, the complexity of adjusting to new demands, increasingly shorter product lifecycles, and competition.

Here are just a few helpful suggestions by Tim Moore, to see things from the Prosumer’s perspective that may help tweak or make something adjustment in operation and get us on the right path without having to do a lot of heavy lifting:

1. Understand we are all in the same boat. Every business is in the similar situation. They are all struggling to catch up the social behavior of customer and have to gain profit from it. Not just to earn money but to have a good relationship towards them. Some of the customer feels like being only treated a customer. In which some of them left feel like suspicious and distrustful. Sellers are really defensive on the price of the products and services they have. While on the prosumer side, he/she would effort to search on the internet to find cheaper. So as a result of it most of the people will only have work and face on the computer while the business profis of the community dwindle or decrease. To solve this, we should have to lift or hands on the computer and look and realize the situation and do something about it.

2. SEE the goal. To run business the only goal of it is to gain profit and growth. Right? But it is not just about it. The only way to have it is to build customer’s equity or the trust of the customer. The prosumer should have only to see and realize that there is no hidden agenda on your business. It’s not only about selling your product, but what’s important is to help and learn them from their experience. You shouldhave the resolution of experiences that they have. And finally peak an interaction with you. Look hard on your operation you still have enough time to change and apply some of the good principles.

3. Make the shift ASAP. Most of the company still operates the advertisement to use media and advertise their sales. According to BTW, they earn trust, it’s not automatic, it takes time and isn’t as easy as advertising it, we must make the shift from ’selling things’ to noticing people! We need to build a desire with our Prosumers, cultivate relationships, and create a sense of comfortable community for them. One of the good formula shared on here that Thoughts + Feelings = Actions. This would help to apply those thoughts and feelings to become the reality of that solution. Prosumer’s experience when we get an opportunity, that we are going to dazzle them with service, since we are all human, using my formula will create: Trust + Desire = Purchase, and continued experience results in loyalty and advocacy.

Indeed, the “Death of the Consumer” is not a problem or an issue which needs resolution. It’s about arising a new avenue for the clients to have a great involvement and role on the operation a new “Prosumer” is now born. Prosumer has an enormous power to enhance the growth of the community. Now it’s my turn to ask you. How do you view your customer? You should ask them. You have to know what their recommendation is, deal with them and learn from their experience. Look hard. A good technopreneur must be on it.

Try to walk around somewhere and discover technopreneur idea

To travel around or through something on foot, that’s what we call walk. First impression when I got to read and interpret the second exercise given to us by Mr. Randy Gamboa prior into Technopreneurship 2 , I was amazed, surprise or even astound to the particular directive on how we are going to do our assignment. Surprise because in the first place, it’s weary to us making to the point of another assignment to encounter and to resolve this thing. But I was amazed where the task doesn’t need further research and look deep into the answer without the help of our best friends Google and Yahoo! Walk doesn’t matter most in this task. But for me, being observant and imaginative has been test on how you ponder and dwell upon your observation. No right or wrong answer in this exercise I suppose. When we say walking, it’s a nature thing to people. But to observe is different while you are doing something. Serendipity walk is the term for that. Where you have been accidentally discover of something pleasant, valuable and useful. Connected to technoprneurship, there are lots and numerous ideas on how you as a technopreneur should be aware and be knowledgeable on the things around you. A good technopreneur must have to consider the benefits and the advantages of his innovation towards other people. Before I consider myself as a competent technopreneur I must discover and measure it first on myself.

The first thing I did was not to walk around but in fact I am sitting in our dining area. Then I let my two twinkling eyes to see and perceive around the corner of our dining section. Few seconds passed, the refrigerator grasp and hold my attention, what I did is to open it and spot what’s inside of it. Then I noticed, the refrigerator is full of food and drinks. However, uncooked food was been decayed and has fungus. In that act I came to an idea on having an advance refrigerator with the modern technology of detecting decomposed food. The refrigerator will automatically can make sound when it has been detected. And the refrigerators will automatic turn on and off. Turn on when there is no problems identify. Of course it still needs the power of electricity in order to function it. But when times it can detect rooted food and another think is when the freezer has been loaded with high percentage of ice, and then it will be off. I think that’s one way on how my imaginative idea works. When I got to Tagum (my home), I have my usual task to do in our house. My usual work and responsibilities is to be a salesperson where I am the one who sells food in our sari-sari store. As my usual personal problem to encounter is when I am no longer interested to sell due to weakened and made less active exertion. In other word, I already tired! Then my second idea goes like this. To invent a modern sari-sari store without the service of any personnel. A buyer will be the one who will select and choose his goods and a part of it is the paying area where consumers drop his payment and get his changes when needed. That’s one of the big help in the fields of trade and industry.
Having these ideas are not easy just like a blink of an eye when it comes to comprehend something. What I did is to determine first the difficulties in the surroundings, from that way I can formulate your technopreneurial solution to patch things up. From the above solutions on some problems in our society I can now recommend my thoughts and plan. At this time, I wanna share the scenario when I walk along the street some part in Obrero. My technopreneur idea was to propose a solution in solving garbage problem. I just wonder why does people couldn’t throw and segregate their waste in the right place. They just leave it anywhere and anytime they like. So I come up with this garbage what I called “high tech rubbish bin”. This is a big container where you can throw any kind of garbage and waste you have. Then you put it inside the bin, this bin will automatically segregate the waste and determine whether it is biodegradable or non-biodegradable. Without much trash needed across the several street and much effort to throw different kind of waste the high tech rubbish bin was been proposed. Not just that! If the rubbish bin verify that it is almost full, the bin will automatically turn closed and locked to prevent over loading and overflow of garbage. In fact people don’t care and just be senseless with this environmental difficulty. That’s why stuck waste is the preeminent reason why do floods exist. Aside from the garbage issue we have currently, smoke belching cars is one of complains of most Filipinos living indoors in the city. Hundreds of car travel across big streets especially in the city of Davao. That’s why people have been possessed to some respiratory ailments due to the smoke and dust they exhale from cars, vehicles and tracks. I discover that why not to invent a gasoline for the cars engine but without danger it bring to people when belching. We have to invent the advance gasoline that will maintain the good health of the people and to be sure it is harmless to them. Gasolines which not damage our Mother Earth in spite with the huge buildings constructed. The other technopreneur idea I got is when I visited once the Agdao Public Market. As usual, wet market really looks crowded and congested especially inside. Waste from peels of fruits and vegetables and even rooted meats are found. Several problems also are from dishonest seller or vendor who lies to sell old kinds of products. To help the consumer, I got the answer to their common problems, they should have this hand held device which can detect and identify fresh or rooted meats and fish. This advance technology will just place behind the product then it will show on what percentage a meat is fresh or not. This will alleviate the consumer to avoid buying unwanted ones, without regret in paying right amount but gaining diseases from what they bought. After strolling around the Agdao Market, we have to leave and ride “multicab” back to the boarding house. Another thing I noticed is when we are riding in the multicab numerous passengers trying to insert their selves even the availability is already small. Unfortunately, two old people have their short argue because of the space. In that time, I came to idea of having a built in small drawer where passengers will just simply drop his/her bills. The drawer will establish how far a passenger is from. When the commuter pays and needed a change, the drawer will automatically will display the changes when needed. In this case, commuter who plans not to pay will be detected. Crimes will be avoided; in fact wanted people can be distinguishing when passengers got inside the car. In addition to preventing crimes, a simply coat is my new technopreneurial idea. This is not simply a coat to wear. People with the high ranks and position just like a lawyer and judge can secure their life with the help of wearing this soft black coat. This black coat is a bullet proof. Yes! It is. No one can think that this can block any kind of gunshots. In this matter, preeminent person with the death treats in their life can avoid deathtraps. I have this idea also of gel. What is gel about? A usual looked like a gel. Ops. It’s not what you think of gel having in your hair but a gel with the chemicals it have. So where should we put his gel? It is put into things maid of metal. Once you will apply this gel in a material thing maid in metal, few seconds later the metal can breakdown and split into pieces. So where did this gel help for? In many things like cutting a metal, you will not anymore visit some blacksmith to cut the unwanted metal things you have. But this will not harm to people. Anything that this gel can accidentally apply are secure, but except for the things which are made of metal. Why did I came to these several idea? To recap what is technopreneur, it is the use of technology as an integral and key element in the transformation of goods or services. In short technopreneurship is the combination of business with the help of technology. We also have the learned importance of Technopreneurship, these are employment creation, local resources, decentralization and diversification of business, promotion technology, capital formation and lastly promotion of an entrepeneurial culture. In other words, the Technopreneurship lend a great advantage in our economic status if are able enough and the right capabilities handling a business but considering the fact that we are one of the least and lower country. So how should we implement with these things? Even foods and personal needs of people are harder to attain and not enough in supporting by the government.

A technopreneur is an entrepreneur who is technology savvy, creative, innovative, dynamic, dares to be different and take to the unexplored path. That’s according to an article. They take challenges and strive to lead their life with greater success. They don't fear to fail. Being one of that is a pleasure to me. A good technopreneur must have to take failure as a learning experience. Of course failures are just an element and stimulator on to the technopreneur person to look things differently and strive for the next challenge. Technoprenuers continuously go through an organic process of continual improvement and always try to redefine the dynamic digital economy. Technology and entrepreneurial skills are driving many economies to prosperity. In other words it will help the economic status of a country. Especially these times that we have job inflation rate and based on statistics, here in Philippines, we have 13,000,000 people jobless. Yes, but sad to say, it is the reality. Most of the fresh graduates we have is unemployed. In that case their learning’s are not applied and most of that is there is possibilities that jobless person is close to some bad inducement like drugs and smoking. In this way when you have to start up business, you could hire your fellowmen as your employees and you can give job to them. So you help yourself to have a financial freedom and at the same time, you help other people. The most famous of them all is, Bill Gates, who makes Microsoft a household name all over the world. Steve Jobs - well known for his innovations. iPod - most carried gadget by young population. Look at the success of Google - brain child of Sergey Brin and Larry Page. Imagine billions of internet users used and take advantage of the Technology and entrepreneurial skills are driving many economies to prosperity. The most famous of them all is, Bill Gates, who makes Microsoft a household name all over the world. Steve Jobs - well known for his innovations. iPod - most carried gadget by young population. Look at the success of Google - brain child of Sergey Brin and Larry Page. Imagine indefinite numbers of internet users used and take advantage of the product made and innovate by those deemed industrial stars. I think most of the above mentioned ideas of mine are futuristic and unbelievable to think if it possible. But being a technopreneur should advance in thinking or should I say imaginative in his own way. He/she is capable of innovating new things. Just like big names in industry. Bill Gates! Steve Jobs! Count the names of entrepreneurs who started Oracle! Youtube! Facebook! As I’ve read a site that persons behind this famous social sites are not ready to technopreneur. And if I am going to add my names in line with them, I also have what it takes to be a technopreneur.

Identify and discuss Trends and Opportunities in convergence with image/s

In addition to our awareness and facts in Technopreneurship, we had our discussion sometime last week about Marketing Convergence. Mr. Randy Gamboa talked over about this matter. As a matter of fact, he shared how this convergence bounded the present status of selling of products and services in such a way to make it desirable more attractive to the consumer. To define convergence, it is coming together from different directions, especially a uniting or merging of groups or tendencies that were originally opposed or very different. This convergence has brought and takes along trends and opportunities for the consumer. In the field of business, a carefully devised plan of action to achieve a goal or what we call strategy is important to succeed in gaining something. Being a technopreneur must consider and be aware of the factors on how his business will bring benefits and goods to his customer. In fact it is connected in Making Meaning of what Guy Kawasaki once said “if you make meaning, you will probably make money. But if you set out to make money, you will probably not make meaning and you won’t make money”. In that way, your production will develop and you will never notice that you are making money out of it. There are numerous of venture where convergence is already existed. And one of the examples is what Cebu Pacific Airline change and become larger because of strategy of convergence alleviates its evolution. Mr. Gamboa shared to us that Cebu Pacific is offering promos. In fact, they propose a very low rate of airline fees for us low of 1 peso per travel. They have come up this idea because of the bottom and less number of traveler take place during some point of a time in a year. That was a terrific chance to the client who would want to travel and paid a very low bill. One of the preeminent method or technique of convergence to connect there clients is through online internet. Nowadays, it is usual to us people to be aware of what internet helps and welfare the needs of the consumer, most especially on communicating to other people. I had read some article from the internet that would answer the question “How the Leading Companies Are Profiting from Integrating Online and Offline Marketing Strategies? “ then the response goes like this. It will enable you to market your products and services more effectively using the Internet. Big companies or even starter venture will increase the organization’s profitability and effectiveness because they will know how to navigate the minefields of online, interactive, and traditional marketing. Indeed they have the key strategic insights into integrating there marketing across all media, and know how those strategies profitably—the way they have been used by some of the world’s smartest marketers. In other words, it would become much easier to there part to communicate and transmit information connected to there business to avoid delay distraction and some difficulties.

I had identified and browse some site that convergence is the main issue. E-business and traditional business can come together to create something new and different – and consumers are combining them to suit their tastes. Jerry Wind, Vijay Mahajan, and Robert E. Gunther look at five key areas where convergence occurs. These several people made a concept where those fields and areas convergence is embracing. Early proponents of the Internet claimed that it changed everything. In my opinion, internet doesn’t change everything. Its just a matter of fact that it helps in the lifestyle of people. The rules of technology, business, and marketing were different. Forget ROI, they said; build market share. It is about investing your money in a right way. Forget mass marketing; develop a personal relationship. Convenient consultation of client in your business is what this personal relationship is about. Forget the traditional consumer; focus on the "cyberconsumer." This people are the consumer who prefers to negotiate through online. If you don't understand this, these revolutionaries said, you are mired in the past. You just don't get it. Or in short, we are not fully mindful of what new trends and opportunities bring an advantages t us. It is clear today that the Internet doesn't change everything. But in the backlash, we cannot forget that it does create major changes in the way consumers behave and how the business operates. The power of the new technology creates fundamentally new possibilities for consumers and companies. If we begin to look beyond the either/or view of the world, we see a rich and complex set of opportunities. The challenge is sorting through the interactions between consumers and technology to find these opportunities. The greatest opportunities are through a fusion of the old and the new, physical and virtual.

To count some business, several of them change there strategic plan to produce more improving idea. Just like building a food court or a restaurant. Many organizations initially treated e-business as just another offering in the food court. Pure-play Internet firms saw it as a standalone restaurant. But in fact, the most powerful new models may not be those based on a food court concept, but rather on a deeper fusion. This is like fusion in cuisine, where Asian and French, or Spanish and American influences are joined into creative and tasty new dishes. E-business and traditional business can be brought together to create something new and different, and individual consumers are combining the two in ways that suit their individual tastes. This is one way of creating something new trends in the marketing convergence, to make it more attractive and suitable to the eye of what we call consumer as a “PROSUMER”.

The Death of Consumer is one of the trends of convergence. “Prosumer “is the new term of buyer who doesn’t depend on what available products and services a business might be offer. They are the one who take chances to demand and mandated what they want is.

The Internet Marketing Magic is one of the trends of convergence. This is where the communication of prosumer and the seller have the opportunities to settle and patch things up connected to their agreement.

The Venture of eCommerce is one of the trends of convergence. This is about on undertaking business enterprise managing in a good way.It is also stated in the article that not all combinations work, and the key is to experiment with different combinations. It should be learned and need to study different kind of convergence. In e-business, the dot-com revolution led to a furious period of experimentation, as companies quickly tested what worked and didn't. As investors poured capital into these markets, they saw one of the most massive experiments in new business models—some good, some fatally flawed.
These are also areas where the interactions are complex and important to business success.

These "five C's" are areas in which some of the most interesting new "fusion" concepts of convergence can be developed:

Customerization—Convergence of customized and standardized offerings and messages. Online marketing is where this customerization occurs. Adversity, publication and even offering of promos is connected in this area. This will answer the needs of the prosumer to inquire there orders and demand.
Community—Convergence of virtual and physical communities. Virtual is a simulated by computer. This community is what merging of virtual society to physical communities might be encounter. Virtual those people who usually face and cope with through online. If they have a chance to talk over with their client personally, they just have to settle their agreement.
Channels—Seamless convergence of call, click, and visit. Online website and online buying is what channel is. All they need is a computer and connection of internet. Then managing a business would be that easy as much.
Competitive value—Convergence of new and traditional competitive value equations and pricing models. In the field of trade and industry, competitive is very close and particular among businesses. That’s why, they should have to think of new trends and edge part of their business strategy in order to click and demand.
Choice tools—Convergence of new search engines and decision tools for consumers and company-provided advice. Choice tools this is concerning on the methods on how the company propose and introduce their products and services. Some might think of visiting personally in the house of the customer. Some prefer to stay in their branch in selling product.
There are areas in which new technologies and systems create opportunities for customers to do things they could never do before, but they are also areas in which customers are creatively combining the old with the new to create a fusion. Most of the initial discussion of these topics over the past few years has focused on what consumers can do in these areas employing new technologies. In our book, we've looked beyond this question to examine: What do they want to do, and what are they likely to do in the future? In this article, we examine each of these five areas. These are places where there are significant challenges and opportunities for convergence within and across these areas. Like most areas of marketing, advertising is changing rapidly. Some argue that change has affected advertising more than any other marketing function. For instance, while many different media outlets are available for communicating with customers, the ability to distinguish between outlets is becoming more difficult due to the convergence of different media types. In advertising convergence, and more appropriately digital convergence, refers to a growing trend for using computer technology to deliver media programming and information. Convergence allows one media outlet to take advantage of features and benefits offered through other media outlets. For instance, in many areas around the world television programming is now delivered digitally via cable, telephone or satellite hookup. This delivery method uses the same principles of information delivery that is used to allow someone to connect the Internet. The convergence of television and Internet opens many potential opportunities for marketers to target customers in ways not available with traditional television advertising. For example, technology may allow ads delivered to one household to be different than ads delivered to a neighbor’s television even though both households are watching the same program. But convergence is not limited to just television. Many media outlets are experiencing convergence as can be seen with print publications that now have a strong web presence. The future holds even more convergence opportunities. These include outdoor billboards that alter displays as cars containing geographic positioning systems (GPS) and other recognizable factors pass by or direct mail postcards that carry a different message based on data that matches a household’s address with television viewing habits. Convergence is a process that entails a lot of innovation and new ways of thinking out of the box. Gary Hamel once said, “The greatest rewards go to companies that create new business models, spark new ideas, new markets, new sources of revenue based on changing technology, demographics and consumer habits.” C.K. Prahalad, added “Today’s customers are more informed, networked, active and global. These new market characteristics have led to a new form of value creation, where value is co-created by the both the company and its customers.” These two great strategists have underscored product success only when customers are involved in their development.

Thus marketing convergence is one way of achieving something good in your business in spite of the close competence value. As a technopreneur they must consider the facts on managing strategic plan of their business. I might be not knowledgeable enough to this matter but I still have a chance to take challenges and learned from this marketing convergence in case if I will be a deemed technopreneur sooner. But at least at this time I have already encountered this area. It depends on how you hold chances and opportunities thoroughly.

The following are the images that show convergence that existing:

Reflection/learnings/thought on the video clip of Guy Kawasaki: MAKE Meaning

After we had chance to witness the short video of Guy Kawasaki last week, we have learned and be knowledgeable on some tips he had talk over. His video is in titled “The Art of Start”. In fact, I found some information about this brilliant guy when I had searched and read various articles in the internet. I really amazed of what Guy Kawasaki grasp and conquer of what he had know. Now it’s my turn to introduce to you all about this proficient and expert in the field of trade and industry. Guy Kawasaki is a managing director of Garage Technology Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm and a columnist for Entrepreneur Magazine. Previously, he was an Apple Fellow at Apple Computer, Inc. Guy is the author of nine books including Reality Check, The Art of the Start, Rules for Revolutionaries, How to Drive Your Competition Crazy, Selling the Dream, and The Macintosh Way. That’s how he breaks out and bliss of writing, speaking, and consulting. He has a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from UCLA as well as an honorary doctorate from Babson College. That’s how Guy is wonderful and incredible. According to his personal blog, he was born at Honolulu Hawaii at 1954. His family lived in Kalihi Valley. They weren’t rich, but he never felt poor-because his mother and father made sacrifices for his sister and himself. Guy Kawasaki’s mother was a housewife, and his father was, at various times, a fireman, real estate broker, state senator, and government official. In point of fact, his first worked for a fine-jewelry manufacturer called Nova Stylings; and his first real job was literally counting diamonds. He learned how to sell at that time. The jewelry business is the toughest business he ever encountered. Go back to our preeminent topic, “The Art of Start” focus on making meaning, not money. This means that in building a business, a technopreneur or an entrepreneur must consider first and think about on founding importance and value of that business to the good of people. . since we are dreaming for utilizing our own business, it is also important and necessary that we acquire the proper mindset of an entrepreneur. And this includes having the right reasons for starting a company. Part from that video he stressed out that “if you make meaning, you will probably make money. But if you set out to make money, you will probably not make meaning and you won’t make money”.
Think first on how this enterprise will help to succeed then after how this will gain money. If your vision for your company is to grow it just to flip it to a large company or to take it public and cash out, "you're doomed". Kawasaki shared in the video. Kawasaki says that great companies are built around three kinds of meaning:

1. Increase the quality of life. In this factor, it can bring changing world to have productive and in progress life for all the people. Make people more productive or their lives easier or more enjoyable. From Wikipedia, it is used to evaluate the general well-being of individuals and societies. The term is used in a wide range of contexts, including the fields of international development, healthcare, and politics. Quality of life should not be confused with the concept of standard of living, which is based primarily on income. Instead, standard indicators of the quality of life include not only wealth and employment, but also the built environment, physical and mental health, education, recreation and leisure time, and social belonging. The definition of quality of life is different for everyone. The main thing that determines quality of life is our ability to enjoy all that life has to offer. For instance, the ability to walk, talk, see and feel all contributes to our overall quality of life. A quality life is a life full of meaning and purpose. A high-quality life is also a life of freedom from tyranny. Having the ability to make choices about what you want to do with your time, your belief and what you buy shape your quality of life. People who have lived under oppressive governments are generally unhappy because their quality of life is compromised. That’s how great in increasing the quality of life. In fact, reliable site said that quality of life comprises of good characteristics such as:
• Good Health. I think if you are mentally and physically healthy you are in a good health. Good health helps a productive and happy life. F all the members of family are healthy then they can do fun and exciting things like having family bonding and more. Good health reflects from what’s inside. The attitudes of healthy person are naturally more positive and can accomplish more goals in life.

• Stability. This is a condition of being stable. In mental or psychologically firmness. This is another important factor of quality of life. When you and everybody is stable we can make better decisions about life and for the future. Children who are raised in stable homes generally thrive, and adults who strive to provide stability often fare much better in life. When we're more stable, we tend to be more responsible and have a sense of purpose. Sometimes life circumstances make it difficult to be stable, but the deciding factor is how you handle the situation. You can either make it worse or use it as a learning experience to grow.

• Happiness. Being happy makes the worlds go round. Yes! This is true. In my opinion, being happy is what people should be feel living in his own existence. To be satisfied is happy. If you are satisfy of what you have, in spite of many struggles facing. Money doesn’t count and can’t buy happiness of people. There are instances like some little girls are trained early on to seek their prince charming and live happily ever after. Just what I did when I was a kid. However, this fantasy can cause some people to grow up having unrealistic expectations. Some people who dream to achieve their goals expect much of that certain thing to happen even if possible. Happiness is a mind-set, as is unhappiness. You can always take a difficult situation and turn it into something positive. No one else can make you happy. Seeking happiness from material things or people will leave you disappointed in the end. Having the right attitude and doing things to improve your quality of life will ultimately make you happy. Thus, happiness is one of the best factors of good quality of life.

• Meaning. People should have the motivation in their life. People who have meaning in their life have a very high quality of life. You should consider the right meaning of your life meaning to stand and live the meaning. Meaning brings purpose and a reason to live. Most people achieve this need by helping to improve the lives of other people. Giving and sharing time with friends, loved ones or even strangers can bring great purpose in life. Having children and teaching them to have values and good ethics can provide a great deal of meaning. For some people, having God in their life provides them with great meaning. If you didn’t have that meaning yet, then life has many chances to build it right.

• Relationship. People should the good relationship towards other people. Especially in their family and friends. Spending time and enjoying the company of family and friends can help take care of our natural social needs. Not just towards other people but most especially we as human beings are very complex biological to the great creature – God. We nurture and inspire people with positive emotions and encouragement from each other. Spending an evening with friends having a good meal, games and a few good laughs can cause serotonin levels to increase. Serotonin is the hormone that helps us to feel happy and adds to quality of life. There is a saying that said “live life to the fullest”, but this is not necessary to live life with all the happiness in life. Just like gimmick with friends and soon. Its about living your life in God’s will. Keep it up!

2. Right a wrong. A variant on the above. Be a part of the solution, not a part of the problem. A technopreneur must be a problem solver and love to take risk. In spite of all difficulties he/she may encounter, he/she must be brave enough in facing and make plan to work on things well.

3. Prevent the end of something good. Preserve something classic or historical. Save the whales. This simple means that a technopreneur should cultivate his reasonable motivation on the success of his business.
According to a site, Guy Kawasaki love to speak to people who want to change the world. He considers himself a better speaker than a writer, and better writer than a doer. This means he loves to direct and influence people through his words. As a matter of fact, he is very comfortable with large number of audiences, and two things separate from the speakers. He says:
 I am a business person who happens to speak. I am not a “professional speaker,” a “motivational speaker,” or a “guru.” (I wish I was a professional athlete who turned to speaking, but I’m not that either.)

 I customize each speech for the audience. I need at least one face-to-face or telephonic meeting before the event to make this work. A good speech requires understanding your business.
From that video Guy Kawasaki inspired and feed us to think beyond our limits in the field of business. Considering the fact that making meaning should be in the first list to think of. In that way, making meaning makes money out of it. Being a technopreneur is never that easy to achieve. Thus learning that skills and such expertise is a process. Even though a technopreneur get failures in many times, what’s more important is to stand in your own feet and have more courage to ponder the right formulas of a technopreneur. As a matter of fact, Guy Kawasaki shared his tips. It said that, “entrepreneurship is a parallel process, not serial. Don’t expect to formulate an idea, get funding, build, get customers, get paid. It’s a repeat process and many tasks run along side each other. You have to be willing to “grind it out”. It is continuous process learning those heavy tasks. I just wonder how this proficient Guy Kawasaki brought his capacity in helping to develop the Apple. Where Apple Company has always been about building “cool stuff”. I myself still didn’t have the courage and expertise to this field; however, believing to my self is one of the key to be line up my name in with famous and most deemed people internationally. At this time, I haven’t yet the idea of what business to build if I am going to be a technopreneur someday. There is a good business ethics to ponder and push through. It comprises of trustworthiness, impartiality, openness, respectfulness, compliance and community involvement. These must not only to learn but all of these should be applying in daily life. Developing a strong base of values and ethics in your business can help you build a positive reputation and present an image of integrity. But, the principles you follow in your business can also be followed in your day-to-day life and have very positive results. Your customer is whom who bring positive response in your good company. It’s up to you on how to handle things right. Building my own future is my goal why I am sending to school and have good grades. Indeed, Guy, who is known to be humble and approachable, had no hesitation in stating that he doesn’t consider himself a visionary, but has always been willing to just “grind it out“. Two thumbs up for Mr. Kawasaki!

Reflection/ Learning's on Technopreneurship 1

"The best investments you ever make are investments in yourself – and your education. Those investments always pay big dividends."Donald Trump

Technopreneurship 1 bestowed a great impact to me being a student. I have learned a lot from imparting Mr. Randy Gamboa his knowledge and expertise in the field of technopreneur. From the above quotation by Donald Trump our first investment of being a newly born technopreneur are the asset or the learning’s or should I say the educational skills that we have as a student. What we are planting now are the things we are going to gain in the future and those investments mentioned pay a big bonus towards us.

To define technopreneurship, it is the use of technology as an integral and key element in the transformation of goods or services. In short technopreneurship is the combination of business with the help of technology. We also have the learned importance of Technopreneurship, these are employment creation, local resources, decentralization and diversification of business, promotion technology, capital formation and lastly promotion of an entrepeneurial culture. In other words, the Technopreneurship lend a great advantage in our economic status if are able enough and the right capabilities handling a business.

The first activity we had is about following simple instruction. From that matter, it will test an individual on how he/she pursue and keep track even a simple instruction he/she might encounter. In the meadow of technopreneurship, we have to consider the simple instruction that should be applied in order to be success. This will also be applied in our daily lives, considering the factor of most people doesn’t think seriously about their future. However people don’t know how to do it. Well in fact the things they need is just around them. The other activity we had is the connecting the dots. Connecting the dots symbolized the thinking skills of how we are thinking and discerning beyond the limits we ought to have. In connection to Technopreneurship, people want to earn money, they are looking for it but sadly they are looking for it badly! We have to expand and lengthen the ideas on how earn money through technology. In fact people are struggling for a survival but not knowing that the stuff they need from neediness is just beside them. Computer and an internet are the stuff to hook up and get into the world of Technopreneurship. Along with the discussion we had movie marathon captured our interest dealing the said subject. “Pirates of the Silicon Valley” is the movie in characters of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs; these are the people we are looking forward to be in the near future. From that film, we learned their stories being dynamic, innovate and passionate take their unexplored path. In fact they don’t fear to fail. Even though how many times they have been trapped and failed, they never stop to stand and prove that after rainy days comes a new brighter day towards them.

Before that, several topics we answered connected to technopreneurship. Just like the factors contributed on how to become success and failed. The following are the aspects partake in success of a Technopreneur according to my researched.

• Doing what you love.
• Be different.
• Do your best
• Make an analysis
• Be entrepreneurial.
• Start small, think big
• Strive to become a Market leader.
• Focus on the outcome.
• Ask for feedback.
• Innovative.
• Learn from failures.
• Learn continually.

The above mentioned are the factors which matter to the accomplishment of a technopreneur. We might think at first that these may sound weird; however these are the truth and the principle to help succeed in the field Technopreneurship. Another thing are the factors contributed to the failure, the following below are reasons why an individual crash and give up to this career.

• Being greedy.
• Don’t care on others.
• Doing unnecessary thing.
• Senseless.
• Short temper.

From the commencement address of Steve Jobs, it was once a big hit and was talked about the various articles that time. It is because of the inspiring and encouraging story way back he is. The three stories it comprises are “Connecting the dots”, “Love and Loss” and “Death”. From the first story, I’ve never imagined how unlucky and unfortunate Steve Job was at his time. He emphasized here the struggles and battles he had. To stress from it, He stated here that dots are connected by looking backwards. We should have trust something that happens in our life it may be good and bad. We have to trust to our self. Our skills, talents and knowledge and we have to share these to others, because we cannot live alone. I also learn that we must never let somebody bring us down. We don’t have to look down or even feel hopeless in every failure we have. Life will never be prosperous always. There will always be ups and downs. Everything is a perception in this world. Stay Foolish. Fear is pointless. It means that if you are person with fear, this will never help you. Change is inevitable. Inevitable in a way that changes is unpredictable to come in our lives. If you fear of doing new things or afraid of change, you can never move forward in life. So, stay foolish!

His second story is about love and loss. Steve got fired on his own company at 30. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. Since he loves what his doing, he started a company named NeXT and Pixar not knowing that he felt in love with a woman and suddenly become his wife (Laurence). The most important thing that I ascertain is “Don’t lose faith”. Steve convinced to keep going that was he loved what he did. Though he was replaced in the position of his own company, Steve never stopped to discover and persist to his work and way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. Also in our self, even though we haven’t found what makes us happy, we have to find out and keep looking. Of course, if we already have it we have to be contented living with it. Don’t settle. Don’t be too easily satisfied or settle easily with what we have, what we do and grow comfortable…Always there is room for improvement and growth… Hungry of looking forward for progress after failures. When one door closes, another door opens.

Death is in the third story. “If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.” This quotation made an impression to Steve Jobs. Because almost everything – all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure – these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Lately in his life he diagnosed a pancreatic cancer. His doctor told him that this kind of illness is incurable and nothing to expect to live longer. Without expectation, the cancer cell has been killed through surgery that in fact it is rare happen. But in spite with this ailment, Steve Jobs never surrender. However, this unfavorably situation give more courage to Steve to continue living with his supportive family. No one wants to die. Yes! That true. We are afraid to face death. No one knows when and where this tremendous situation happens. This story wants to remind us that our time is truly limited. We never know what happen next. So we should not waste our time living with loved of our life. We have to express to our families, friends, relatives that we love and care them. So that if time goes by, when we are facing death no regrets may occur. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. Whatever people may think of you, don’t let them bring you down. Steve Jobs also shared that have the courage to follow what our heart and intuition says and crave for. Intuition is somewhat your perception and awareness.

We used to think the kind of techno-business if given a chance; we are going to proposed and utilize in the near future. I decided to have a business named “Wedding Galore”. This is a site for the wanted couple who wants to order and classify items and services. Of course my target clients are the online couple. While I am making this business proposal, there are things to consider or rather say the preeminent elements of establishing a fledgling techno business bringing in success. These are the following:

• Choice Of Business. Why have you chosen this business? Are you passionate about this particular business, or just about being in business? We must love the business we are in. Loving and enjoying your own business wont get through the days when business turn against us. But loving a certain business isn't enough if the business we love is on the way out.

• Education and Experience. If we are going to ask if education and experience, which of the two is more important? Then my answer would this be plenty of highly educated business failures, as well as many highly successful business owners who are not very well educated.

• People. These are the management, founders and the key employees who make the company work. A well company with a weak and poorly functioning team may not valuable in terms of market place. Good team work is what a capitalized company needs specially with the usage of technology. Workers should be versatile to what circumstances may happen. The owner also a risk taker, ready in all the challenges. Good people are actually considered rare. External team is the paid professionals’ .Internal teams are the founder and the employee who make the company work.

• Creativity in Management. Being resourceful needs in every small business of a Technopreneur. There are two hard truths about the management. Some entrepreneurs are not good managers. This means that several managers are not good in carrying or managing their workers. In cline with technology the project manager should good in their field. Some excellent managers don’t have a creative bone in their bodies. This indicate that good managers cant do their job well because they are only good in innovating ideas but never in leading without the help of his fellow worker.

• The Industry .The choice of business. This factor encourages us to find out if the industry we are considering has high potential or low potential. Since we are requiring creating a techno business, we are going to consider the environment of what today is.

The preeminent discussions we learned are about the SEED model and the management process related to Techopreneurship. The SEED model in Technopreneurship 1 in which SEED stands for Self-mastery, Enterprise, Environment and Development. However, due to the lack of time to have a lesson about SEED model, we only deeply learned about Self–mastery. It is about knowing your passion in life. A self mastered person does not need high IQ, EQ and AQ. He/she is naturally performer-competitive and efficient. He/she is also sensual and cheery and most of all a boss who takes charge and loves a good fight. Under Self-master is the personal vision and knows strengths and weaknesses. That’s why we also encountered our personal aspect to know more about ourselves.

• What you are best at?
• What you love?
• What are those things that make you irritants with?

Process management consists of PDOC which stands for Planning, Directing, Organizing and Controlling. Here, we learned the factors on how we are able to manage things prior to Technopreneurship. As I remembered Mr. Gamboa once said that somehow Davao City would be the next center of Techno-capital not only nationwide but around the world. Being a student, our goal why we study and send to school is to graduate and to have a good future waiting for us a good work either. But these mind set are not reasonable enough to be when we are going to have are own diplomas, instead we are going to become a competitive employer managing our own techno-business sooner.
